Oh Fiddlesticks!

Something odd is going on in my house. N has petechiae and what appears to be impetigo. The impetigo (if that is what it is) is right where his belt (which he must wear as he is sooooo skinny) touches his skin if he doesn't tuck his shirt in (which he never does). He has nickel dermatitis, or whatever the correct term is for "breaks out from metal belt buckles." He has some topical medication for this, but isn't always very good about using it until the area gets really bad. Sigh...and now it appears infected. This is usually E's arena. As is the petechiae - what's up with that????? I'm used to seeing E with petechiae - but have never ever seen N with any. It's above his collarbone, and has been spreading up his neck. I can't see any hives or anything else that would cause that area to be itchy or anything. No idea.

Adding to the fun, C has a cold, and he goes back and forth between dramatically announcing "I'm sick" and swooning into my arms, and running helter-skelter like the miniature tornado he usually is. I'm not too worried. His cough is pretty nasty - but he will get over it.

E goes to the hematologist tomorrow. His petechiae have magically disappeared - which was pretty much a given. Just wait - his bruises will be mostly faded by morning too - I could put money on it. Since we only see the hematologist once a year now, it's almost a guarantee that the day we go he will look great. She has never once seen him when he is in his heavy (or even moderate) bruising phase. Oh well, it's not like she would do anything differently even if she did. He should be having bloodwork drawn - it's been over a year since his last bloodwork. He's going to throw a fit about that. His eczema is still flaring quite a bit, but wet wraps are helping. If nothing else, the healthy skin that isn't covered in eczema is quite soft.

Cool pic of the day:
